As a progressive, corrupt-free Nigerian and a staunch advocate of true democracy, I, on behalf of my fellow compatriots concerned about the spate of electoral malpractices and irregularities revolving around elections conducted by the Nigerian electoral umpire, INEC, in recent years earnestly plead to the body to strive hard to oversee a transparent and credible election to prevent the polity from avoidable post-electoral violence.
I also call on all security agencies and the general electorate to reason together in order to maintain a peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the elections to further enhance our democracy.
In conclusion, I call on the elder statesmen, religious organizations, NGOs, the media/internet users, election observers and all relevant agencies to help in orientating the electorates on the dangers of vote selling and it dire consequences.
This is a clarion call that must be heeded and also it is the responsibility of all who aspires to see our dear country progress. There is high tension in the polity which can be eased only by a free, fair, credible, transparent and an accountable conduct of the Saturday’s elections.
