Kogi Govt Commences Construction of Student Hostels, Doctors’ Quarters at CUSTECH Teaching Hospital

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has officially launched the construction of state-of-the-art student hostels and doctors’ quarters at Confluence University Teaching Hospital in Okene.

The sites were handed over to contractors at a brief ceremony in Okene on Monday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon Abanika Taiye, who represented the Governor, said the project is a testament to Ododo’s unwavering commitment to advancing the health care and education sectors in Kogi State.

He noted that the site handover ceremony marks the beginning of a significant project aimed at enhancing the accommodation and facilities available to students and medical professionals at the hospital.

He said under the leadership of Governor Ododo, the Kogi state government is committed to improving the infrastructure and services in the healthcare and education sectors.

“The construction of these modern hostels and quarters will not only provide comfortable living spaces for students and doctors but also contribute to the overall development of the hospital and its academic programs.

“This initiative reflects the government’s dedication to investing in the future of healthcare and education in Kogi State. By prioritizing the construction of quality accommodation for students and medical staff, Governor Ododo is demonstrating his commitment to creating a conducive environment for learning and healthcare delivery,” he said.

He stated that Governor Ododo’s visionary leadership has brought about transformative changes, and his initiative is a significant step towards enhancing the quality of life of the citizens.

According to Hon. Abanika, the project also affirms the enduring legacies paid by their mentor and the immediate past Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, which birthed the Reference Hospital Okene that is now transformed to teaching hospital.

The Commissioner charged contractors to adhere to the highest standards of quality, specification, timeliness, and professionalism as they expect nothing but excellence and that they are confident that their expertise will bring this vision to life.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdulrahman Salawu, who was represented by the Director of Fiscal Planning of the University, Bldr. Ismail, commended the present Governor for continuing the good work and projects embarked by the past administration.

Similarly, the Chief Medical Director of the College, Dr. Stephen Shaibu, in his speech, also appreciated the past administration for establishing two medical schools in the state. He said that for these schools to function well, the construction of the doctors quarters and students hostel is a good thing that has happened to the school.

Provost, College of Medicine, Professor Solomon Avidime thanked God Almighty and the immediate past Governor for the establishment of the University. He appreciated Governor Ododo for the introduction of the medical college.

The Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Alhaji Tijani Anaje, represented by the Ohi of Okene, Adahi Mamman Isah, the Chairman Kogi State House Committee on Health, Hon. Shehu Usman Ochidi, Okene Local Government Chairman, Hon. Nuhu Enesi, the House of Assembly member representing Okene Local Government, Hon Suleiman, in their various remarks, expressed joy and gratitude to the past and present administration for their efforts.

The sites handed over include: the Construction of Doctors’ Quarters Block A by LAPIEO MULTI SERVICES LIMITED as well as Construction of Doctors’ Quarters Block B by UPAV INTEGRATED ENTERPRISE also included in the list of projects is the Construction of Medical Students Hostel Block A by BVENT CONSTRUCTION LIMITED. Finally the project site handed over also includes Construction of Medical Students Hostel Block B by FULCRUM PAD GLOBAL LIMITED
