In a passionate plea, Dr. Williams Charles Oluwatoyin, Rector of the prestigious Nigeria Korea Friendship Institute, has issued a call to action over the mounting crisis unemployment rate in the country.

“Our youth are no longer begging for handouts – they’re demanding skills,” declares Dr. Oluwatoyin, highlighting a seismic shift in youth aspirations that’s currently hitting a wall of financial constraints.

The institute, armed with world-class facilities, qualified workforce, conducive learning environment, and cutting-edge technical and vocational programs that are in high demand world wide is readily available to train Youths within and outside Kogi state.

However, the high cost of undergoing these training is the bottleneck that threatens to derail the dreams of countless interested young Kogites, seeking self-reliance through vocational education and above is due to soaring costs of training consumables and safety equipment. Hence the need for this appeal.

Success stories of youths trained at the Institute are everywhere. In the recent Kogi state government initiative that saw 250 youths mastering nine advanced programs, while private interventions from distinguished personalities like Dr. Shuaibu Oricha and His Eminence Jalaluden have transformed dozens of lives. Remarkably, 50% of recent Koyesa graduates have launched their own profitable ventures.

But the Rector’s most stinging challenge targets the politicians and elite: “Our electives officers, Senators, House of Representatives, elites in the public and private sectors should leverage on our facilities and services to empower their constituents with life skills. They should tow the path of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo’s KOYESA.” He added.

As the skills gap widens and youth unemployment looms, Dr. Oluwatoyin’s call echoes across the state: The state government is trying in it’s bid to rid the state of unemployment. Will other Kogi leaders step up to transform their youth from street-level dependents into skilled professionals?

The clock is ticking, and the institute’s world-class resources stand ready. The only question remaining: Who will answer this urgent call to action?
