The Executive Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area and Kogi State ALGON Chairman, Hon. Tosin Olokun, has demonstrated his administration’s commitment to ensuring, safety and security of lives and property of the citizens by donating four motorcycles to local government hunters with a view to boosting their operative capacity.

In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Adeyemi Babarinde Sunday, the Council boss, during the presentation of the motorcycles on Wednesday at the Local Government Secretariat in Odo Ere, reiterated the importance of mobility in combating security threats in the area.

He charged the operatives to make optimal use of the motorcycles to enhance their response time and operational efficiency.

“We recognize the critical role you play in ensuring the safety of our various communities. This gesture is part of our broader strategy to support the local government hunters with the necessary tools to enhance their effectiveness. Security is a collective responsibility, and as a government, we are committed to providing the needed support,” Olokun stated.

The ALGON Chairman stressed that the motorcycles would aid security personnel in responding swiftly to distress calls, patrolling difficult terrains and reaching remote areas in real time, thereby strengthening efforts to curb crime in the local government.

“The security challenges in our local government require proactive measures, and we are determined to provide all necessary logistics to assist in fighting crime. These motorcycles will help you cover more ground, and we expect you to use them judiciously,” he added.

He assured that his administration would continue to prioritize security, promising additional support in the near future.

The chairman also noted that this donation follows a similar initiative in the previous month, where motorcycles and a patrol bus were provided to the Yagba West Hunters Union to bolster their operations in securing the local government.

Speaking on behalf of the security operatives, the leader of the local government hunters, Mr. Tunde Adebola, expressed deep appreciation to the chairman for his timely intervention.

“These motorcycles will significantly improve our mobility, especially in responding swiftly to distress calls and conducting routine patrols across different communities. We are grateful to the government for recognizing our sacrifices and providing us with this essential support,” Adebola said.

The presentation of the motorcycles is part of a broader security strategy by the Yagba West Local Government Council, aimed at equipping security operatives with the necessary resources to tackle emerging threats.
