Kogi Assembly Speaker Thanks Gov Ododo, Wife, Colleagues, Others for Gracing Daughters’ Wedding

The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf has expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, his Deputy, Comrade Salifu Oyibo, their wives, his colleague lawmakers and other important dignitaries for attending Friday’s wedding of his daughters in Lokoja.

This is contained in a press statement signed and made available to journalists in Lokoja by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed.

The statement recorded the Speaker to have said the show of love was overwhelming, as many important personalities suspended their daily commitments for the wedding despite short notice.

He particularly thanked the Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SGS), Folashade Ayoade Arike (PhD), the First Lady of the State, Hajiya Safinat Usman Ododo, wife of the Deputy Governor who were all represented at the occasion and wives of his colleagues in the Assembly and wives of other appointees.

The Speaker prayed to Allah to bless, uplift and continue to unite the components of the State government for the development of the entire state.

In her address at the occasion, the SGS advised the couple to make patience, perseverance, and obedience their watchword, even as she further enjoined the bride to see her husband as the head of the home and accord him the deserved respect at all times.

She further urged them to always discuss their problems with each other and not invite third parties into their matrimonial affairs to ensure unity and happiness between them.

On his part, the speaker had earlier described his daughters as well-groomed children who would bring happiness to their husbands and advised them not to forget the orientation they have received and be excellent in all their marital duties without traits of vices.

He urged his daughters, Amina and Khadija, to see their husbands as their guardians, who now have the responsibility of taking care of them by providing for and protecting them at all times, and prayed for a successful marital life for the new brides.

Other speakers at the event, including members of both the executive and legislature, all advised the couple to be of good cheer and ensure they heed the pieces of advice offered to them to ensure a successful home.
