A political group in Kogi state, Confluence Patriots, has advised the State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo to shun ethnic bigotry and embrace state politics with equity and inclusivity.

The group, with thematic reference to good governance in Kogi State, made this known in a statement issued by its Head of Media and Strategic Communication, Dr. Yusuf Adama.

The group expressed concern over the nepotistic disposition of the Governor in approving key political appointments in the state which is mostly skewed in favor of the Central Senatorial District where the governor hails from.

The group also expressed regret over the open support and celebration by the Governor on the bail granted the Former Governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello (his political benefactor) who is currently standing trail before two competent courts of jurisdiction.

“The Governor should have waited for the determination of the suit filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against the Former Governor who is standing trial alongside his co-defendants, Umar Shuaib Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, before the federal capital territory (FCT) court on a 16-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering to the tune of N110 billion before engaging in celebration seeking to suggest that the former governor has been exonerated by the courts,” the statement read.

The statement further read that Kogi State is an heterogeneous state with different ethnic tribes cohabiting together and as such, it is expected that the Governor conducts state affairs with decorum, equity, inclusivity with respect for all ethnic tribes and the rule of law.
