Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) has commended Governor Usman Ododo for his immense contribution to livestock development in Kogi state.
Chairman, Kogi state chapter of NVMA, Dr. Omotugba Tolu Samuel, gave the commendation during the flag off ceremony to commence the implementation of Private Veterinary Practice (PVP) program in Lokoja on Wednesday.
Omotugba urged Governor Ododo to domesticate the Ministry of Livestock Development in the state to help consolidate on the gains of L-PRES when the project ends.
He added that Kogi state, through L-PRES, is the first to commence the implementation of Private Veterinary Practice (PVP) program which is a performance based condition (PBC) program.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for his commitment to the welfare of veterinarians, precisely for the prompt implementation of the 2024 revised CONMESS in Kogi state.
The event, which was flagged off by Governor Ododo, had other high profiled dignitaries in attendace, including the Task-Team Leader (TTL) L-PRES Project, World Bank Abuja, Dr. Manievel Sene; the Co-TTL Dr. Chidozie Onyedikachi Anyiro; the National Project Coordinator L-PRES, Alhaji Sanusi Abubakar amongst other staff from the World Bank and National Coordination Office of L-PRES.

In a statement, Dr Khalid Mohammed, Publicity Secretary of NVMA, explained that the PVP program aims at supporting 10 private veterinarians to provide free veterinary services to 2,000 livestock and poultry farmers in Kogi state.
Twenty kitted motor cycles, one Hilux, veterinary medications and consumables were presented by Governor Ododo to kick-start the empowerment exercise of the 10 private veterinarians.
