Salem University Honours AIT Correspondent, Jerry Ocheme, With Growth Driver’s Award

Salem University Lokoja has conferred a Growth Driver’s Award on Kano State correspondent of Africa Independent Television (AIT), Jeremiah Ocheme Enemona.

Jeremiah Ocheme, fondly called Jerry, bagged the award at the convocation lecture of the university held on Thursday in recognition of his contributions to the institution and broadcasting while working in Kogi State as AIT correspondent.

He was among five notable Nigerians that were conferred with award for service to humanity, particularly to the development of Salem University and the education sector at large.

Speaking with Journalists shortly after receiving the award, Jeremiah Ocheme Enemona dedicated the award to the founder of Daar Communications, Late High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, whom he said provided him the platform to express himself.

According to him, he learnt leadership qualities from the deceased media maestro who had taught him the essence and value of touching lives through good leadership made the award possible.

He said he would continue to carry out community services where he is posted for his professional job, such as mentoring younger ones in the field of journalism.

Jerry expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor of Salem University, Professor Alewo Akubo, the Senate and the students for finding him worthy of the honour, noting that he holds the award in high esteem.

Senior Special Assistant to the First Lady of Kogi State, Hon. Mohammed Ohikwo and a Senior Correspondent at Radio Kogi, Emmanuel Oluwakorede were part of those in his entourage to receive the award.
