Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon Wemi Jones, has applauded Governor Usman Ododo for the establishment of a new Ministry to propel the state in innovation, science and technology.
Speaking at a 2-day stakeholders’ meeting convened by the Innovation Ministry in Lokoja on Thursday, Hon. Wemi Jones said the Governor has taken a brilliant decision with the new ministry.
Hon Wemi Jones said; “we at the Ministry of Education are willing to partner, collaborate and learn so we can take our education to the next level through the Innovation, Science and Technology Ministry
“A famous Austrian-American, Peter Drucker, once said, ‘innovate or die’. This is profound. When a business stops innovating, it is heading towards death. This is why the government of Kogi state, under the leadership of His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ododo, seeing government as serious business, decided to innovate by carving out the ministry of innovation, science and technology out of the defunct ministry of education, science and technology.
“From 2016 till sometime in 2024, science and technology had suffered in Kogi state. When you add education, that on its own is very huge and massive, with science and technology you are actually going no where because the opportunities that are available in science and technology can never be fully harnessed if you do not create a different ministry for it.”
Hon Wemi Jones applauded Governor Ododo for the brilliant idea which is desired to bring the best of technological advancement to Kogi state.
The 2-day stakeholders’ meeting with the theme: “Roadmap for the Promotion of Innovation, Science and Technology in Kogi State”, began in Lokoja on Thursday and had in attendance the Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Usman Ododo, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology and top government officials.
