Nigerians have been called upon to remain steadfast in unity and peaceful coexistence.
The presiding Bishop of Chapel of Freedom International Churches, Lokoja, Dr. John Ibenu made the call during the prayer for Nigeria at 63 in Lokoja on Sunday.
He led the congregation to prayed to God to guide the country’s leaders in making decisions that would affect the lives of many Nigerians and to assist the country overcome its numerous challenges, especially in the areas of insecurity, corruption and economy.
The Bishop prayed for a Nigeria where justice and equality will prevail, where opportunities abound, and where peace and love unite us all.
De Ibenu, while quoting from John 8:28-32 and Romans 6:23 in the Bible, said Nigerians need to seek divine intervention from God for total economic turnaround.
The former Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Kogi state chapter, enjoined the citizens to come together in unity and love for one another to build the Kogi state and Nigeria that would play a significant role in the development of the country.
He urged Nigerians to join forces together for the salvation of the nation, noting that genuine freedom encompassed physical material and spiritual liberation.
The clergyman also prayed for peace in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Kogi, urging people to come out and vote for a credible candidate that can bring development to the state.
Bishop Ibenu enjoined Nigerians, particularly Kogi people, to celebrate modestly, even as they continue to pray for the peace and progress of Nigeria and the state.
