The Director General of the Murtala Ajaka/Sam Abenemi Campaign Organization of the Social Democratic Party for Kogi West and former Chairman, Ijumu Local Government Council, Dada Fehinti, has predicted a landslide victory for the SDP in the November 11 gubernatorial election in the state.
The former council boss and one time Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Bello on Intra Party Affairs gave this assurance at the weekend during an interactive session with journalists in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
According to him, Governor Bello “has no business in politics because he has zero tolerance for democracy, he sees himself as bigger than the state forgetting that God only gave him the opportunity to test him. Yahaya Bello has failed and disappointed the people and the people are waiting for November 11, to show their disaffection for his leadership style”.
Fehinti went on to predict that the All Progressives Congress (APC) standard bearer, Usman Ododo will come third in the election as people see him as representing Governor Yahaya Bello’s third term agenda.
“The people are bent on resisting him (Ododo). It is unfortunate that Governor Yahaya Bello burnt his goodwill,” he said.
He accused the governor of resorting to violent tactics in his desperate bid to force Ododo on the people as his successor, having failed to impress the electorate in his eight years in the saddle.
He, however, appealed to the governor to stem the tide of political violence in the state and ensure a peaceful atmosphere is created to enable the people vote for the governor of their choice.
“Instead of allowing the policy to be heated up, he should play the role of the father of the state by allowing a level playing field. Governor Yahaya Bello can still win the heart of Kogites if he plays the role of a statesman”, he said, adding, “Murtala Ajaka will be too willing to accord Governor Bello all the respect he deserves when he takes over but may not be ready to continue or consolidate his programmes and policies because they are anti-people. Ajaka will run a people-friendly government, and this is the message he has successfully been able to pass to the electorate through his robust campaign anchored on the agenda set for the transformation of Kogi State”.
