The Convener of the Ododo School to School Campaign (OSSC) Organisation, Comrade Adabara Abduljelil Umar, in this interview with Abdulsalam Ilyasu Jihadist, explains why the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win the governorship election in Kogi State. He also spoke about how the standard bearer, Alh. Ododo Ahmed Usman, will build on the legacies of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello and other issues.
Can the APC governorship candidate, Usman Ododo, defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer, Dino Maleye; Social Democratic Party flag bearer, Muritala Ajaka and ADC candidate, Leke Abeje at the governorship elections in Kogi State?
It is common knowledge that Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello CON, has done well in the last eight years. It is imperative that we have a successor who is properly schooled in leadership. We know that the APC governorship candidate, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, is a former Local Government Auditor General in Kogi State and he has what it takes to maintain the legacies of our performing and focused governor. Yahaya Bello won Global Excellence ‘Governor of the Year’, received prestigious awards of excellence recognising him as the best performing governor in the North Central geopolitical zone, and in the year 2021, journalists union in Abuja presented a ‘Torch Bearer of Security’ award to Kogi governor Yahaya Bello as the best governor in ensuring security among his colleagues in the country.
He has working experience. I know that he has no other option but to perform much better than Yahaya Bello. It is the dream of every father to have a son that will do better than him.
We are confident that one of the things we will achieve from the candidature of Ododo is improved and quality governance in Kogi State. So, we feel very proud and extremely honoured that our candidate will do the very best. You should expect the best from the Kogi APC’s governorship candidate, when he eventually wins the election. God willing, he will be inaugurated as the governor of Kogi State on January 26th next year.
Alh. Ododo and his campaign team are not bothered about the noise being made by Muri Ajaka, the immediate past APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, and his few supporters. They may depend on guns, bombs, thugs, dynamites, fake shrines of their kingdom, but we will continue to put our trust only in God and rely on the support of Kogi people, who are ready to massively vote for Alh. Ododo Ahmed Usman.
What is your assessment of the consultation campaign so far?
I am assuring Kogi people that Hon Ododo will campaign in all the 21 local governments. Our consultation and grassroots sensitization campaign have been successful and will continue to be successful. We are focusing on issues and not abusing people or attacking personalities, the way SDP governorship candidate is doing. We are on course. We will continue to leverage on our performance. We know that we have done well; to drive home our message and it will not be difficult for the electorate to embrace our our candidate.
Ajaka has made some allegations against Governor Yahaya Adoza bello and Ododo. How will you disabuse the minds of the people before the elections?
I know that members of the public, especially Kogi people, are aware of the truth. They know that the government of Yahaya Bello has done well in the past eight years especially in areas of security and infrastructure.
Are you comfortable leading Ododo School to School Campaign Organisation?
This is not new to me and I have Engr. Chatta Ubaid, the Director General OSSC and his formidable team. By the grace of God, we are successfully leading school to school campaign in Kogi State. This is not a new terrain to us. Ododo Independent Campaign Council under the leadership of Alh. Adams Onota know what to do to also deliver Hon. Ododo on election day. They have the strategies and a very strong team of eminent personalities, who are highly experienced in politics. They were focused and I know that God will give us victory.
