2023 Polls: Naira Scarcity Will Affect Voters’ Participation – Dr. Ikupolati

A cleric, Dr. Ezekiel Ikupolati, has expressed concerns about the current scarcity of physical cash in Nigeria as the nation prepares for a general election on Saturday.

Dr. Ikupolati, who is the pioneer Bishop of Ijumu Anglican Diocese, agreed with pundits that Naira scarcity may reduce incidents of votes buying during the polls, however, he stated that it will affect voters participation.

Speaking with journalist during an interview, Bishop Ikupolati said the cash crunch will hinder many from traveling to their respective polling units to exercise their franchise.

He called on youths in the country not to offer themselves to be used for violence and disrupt the coming elections.

He noted that the forthcoming election is an important exercise that must be taken seriously to chart a pathway for the socio-economic prosperity of the country.

Dr Ikukpolati charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deliver a free, fair and credible elections.

He noted that the election would be driven more by youngsters, hence, they ensure orderliness throughout the process, vote wisely and be peaceful.

Dr Ikukpolati prayed God that the best of candidates emerge from the elections.
