Ahead of the 2023 forthcoming general elections, a non-governmental organization under the leadership of Chief James Ogwu Onoja SAN, Bar and Bench Group, has endorsed the leading House of Representatives candidate for Dekina/Bassa federal constituency, Comrade Okai Usman Austin.
The group also endorsed Adejoh Sam Odiniya, who is seeking to represent Olamaboro in the State House of Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking at the ‘Icons of Democracy’ ceremony, Chief Ogwu James (SAN) described the duo as burning gold gearing to massively hit the Igala Kingdom.
He further described Usman Okai Austin as a rugged activist who has over the years demonstrated his tenacity in Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
While praising Adejoh Sam Odiniya, he said, “He is the character every sane society should crave to have at the helm of affairs”, while expressing his readiness to support such aspiration even if it is under another political party.
“We are here today because we believe in what these people can be. I will not only stand by them during the electioneering but also wheel my knowledge and resources to their end should anyone dares to rig the election next year,” Chief Ogwu said.
Prominent personalities that graced the ceremony include, Barr. Ebute, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria; Hon. Farouk Adejoh, the former Olamaboro local government Chairman; Jeremiah Okele (PhD), Hon. Andrew Meliga, the candidate of Biraidu district, Amidu Isah, the Peoples Democratic Party Anyigba Ward Chairman, and Barr. Peter Idenyi, an astute legal luminary.
Meanwhile, Usman Austin Okai and Adejoh Sam Odiniya received awards for “Icons of Democracy” the awards.
