  • Resurrection of Jesus Gives Assurance of Hope in Hopeless Situations

The General Overseer of Chapel of Freedom International Churches, Lokoja, Bishop John Ibenu has condemned the increasing cases of domestic violence in the country.

Speaking after the church service to mark Easter Sunday in Lokoja, Bishop Ibenu urge Christians to embrace God’s law and enjoy marital bliss.

He stated that both genders are involved in domestic violence.

“God hates domestic violence. God says that He is angry with those who put away their wives. He is also angry with those who assaults the wives.

“But at the same time, there are women whose mouths are sharper than knives and one statement from them can give a man heart attack.

“Verbal abuse that can give a man high blood pressure, stroke and heart attack is equally domestic violence.

“Let us follow the way of the cross that says a soft answer turns away wrath. Let us embrace the law of the Lord and there shall be peace in our homes. Jesus rose to bring us righteousness,” he said.

Bishop Ibenu urged Nigerians to keep hope alive, adding that the resurrection of Jesus Christ gives assurance of hope, even in hopeless situations.

“When all hope was gone that Jesus should rise, humanly speaking, he rose from the dead.

“And I want to speak to all Christians and Nigerians that we must never lose hope, never give up. Even when it seems all hope is lost, in a moment, God will step into our case.

“Nigeria is not beyond God, therefore, let us have hope.

“The resurrection of Jesus gives us hope, that all hope is not lost. On Friday, everybody was in despair, on Sunday morning everybody was rejoicing.

“For Nigeria, God will make us to rejoice again. For Kogi state, God will make us great, and greater again,” he said.

He admonished Christians to allow the newness of Christ show forth in their lives, not just in celebrating Easter but in their homes, on the streets, in the offices and the marketplace.

He urged political leaders to make sacrifices to give Nigeria a new life.
