Kogi state chapter of ICDA has dissociated itself from puported election of Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA) said to be organised by estwhile leadership of the organisation headed by Sadik Amodu Abubakar slated for October 2 during a make belief AGM/ Congress at Anyigba.

The chairman of the Kogi state chapter of ICDA, Deacon Godwin Idakwo disclosed this in Lokoja on Thursday shortly after executive meeting and due consultation with the Elders’ Advisory Council of the apex socio-cultural Association.

Idakwo said the move is to further drag the name of Igala nation in the mud of crisis.

He stated that since the stakeholders are not resting on their oars to see a lasting solution to the dust raised by the former leadership that had brought the Association into ridicule, “the move is seen as act of impunity, recklessness and self seeking interest to further polarised Igala nation and allinate the flank from scheme of things.”

Deacon Idakwo added that to the best of his knowledge, the process to restore sanity to the socio-cultural Association to address the objective of which the body was set up is on high momentum, stressing that any deviation from that track is a self seeking mission that should be condemned in totality.

“We are not in the know of decisions, events or processes culminating into the said AGM/Congress and slated election, as a critical stakeholder in the organisation.

“We, the members of the Kogi state chapter of ICDA hereby condemn unequivocally the purported AGM/ Congress and election of the body on Saturday October 2 in Anyigba. It’s a self seeking mission set to ridicule Igala nation, weaken our collective interest and wear us the garment of second fiddle in the scheme of things in the state.

“In view of this, the Kogi state chapter of ICDA therefore disassociate itself from that charade being orchestrated by the former leadership of the organisation. It’s not of Igala, for Igala and by Igala; and therefore cannot serve the collective interest of Igala”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Elders Advisory Council of the ICDA has sued for peace, saying the concerned should allow sense of reasoning, in consonance with the traddition and convention of the land to prevail to avoid more pitfalls that will smear the name of Igala nation.

The Elders who bemoaned the absence of active monarchical leadership of Igala nation presently, where such fire as this could be doused with wisdom of tradition of the stool, cautioned all to be conscious of the wrath of the ancestors in their doings, especially anything that has to to do with the image of Igala nation which they fought, positioned and preserved.

It could be recalled that the incorporated leadership of the ICDA has dissolved the former leadership under one Sedik Amodu Abubakar and endorsed by the late Ata Igala, HRM Micheal Idakwo Ameh II for derailing from the objectives of the association on many fronts.

In the same vein, the Acting Chairman of Igala Area Tradditional Council, HRH, Dr Usman Obaje, in conjunction with incorporated leadership and others has set a direction of how to resolve the differences in the soco-cultural association in which the process is being observed for a lasting solution, before this twist.
