● “He is A Great Asset to APC”- Kogi Information Commissioner, Fanwo
A two-term member of the House of Representatives, Yagba Federal Constituency, Hon. Sunday Karimi on Sunday revalidated his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his Polling Unit of Ward 1, Odo Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
His membership lip was presented to him immediately by the Ward Chairman, Mr Oladele Moses.
Speaking after the exercise, Hon. Karimi urged the people of Kogi to continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari, Governor Yahaya Bello and the APC.
Karimi who said he has no doubt that APC will continue to do well in Kogi State commended Governor Yahaya Bello for making APC the strongest party in the state, assuring that the governor without doubt will continue to strengthen the party with his open door policy and pragmatic leadership.
He noted that while President Muhammadu Buhari has always given his best to Nigerians, Governor Yahaya Bello has continued to be one of the shining stars of the party at the national level.
“I urge all our people to take this exercise very seriously. Our Governor is the Chairman of the Committee to mobilize the youth, women and people living with disabilities. We have to join hands with him to ensure the exercise is successful”, he said, adding “I call on all my supporters who are still in other parties to seize this golden opportunity to join me here. Many had joined me before now but I want all that believe in my leadership and political ideology of development to come to the APC.
“Let me commend the Chairman of the Local Government Council and other leaders in the Local Government for their good job so far. We have to continue to make our party attractive to all to come and join”.
Karimi was accompanied by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, APC Zonal Chairman, Kogi West, Femi Dele and Secretary to Yagba West Local Government, Chief Kayode John and many other party leaders in Yagba Federal Constituency.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingley Fanwo has described Hon Sunday Karimi as an outstanding legislator during his eight years in the House of Representatives and a great asset to the APC in the state.
“As you can see, we are here to identify with our leader, . The reception here is electrifying and reminds us of what you need to win elections”, he said, adding “He is someone whose footprints are everywhere in his Federal Constituency, a huge Apostle of development politics. We are glad to have him in the party”.
It will be recalled that Hon Sunday Karimi had defected from his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in the run up to the 2019 governorship election in Kogi State.
He first served in the Green Chamber between 2011 and 2015 and was re-elected for another four years (2015-2019) thus becoming the first politician to be elected twice to represent Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He however declined the PDP ticket to run for a third term and subsequently joined the APC in the aftermath of the controversial governorship primaries of the PDP in September 2019.
Although a major financier of the PDP and a leading aspirant, he was amongst leading senatorial aspirants disenfranchised by the PDP National Working Committee ahead of the 2019 senatorial primaries ostensibly to pave the way for automatic tickets for incumbent PDP senators.
