Senator representing Kogi West, Smart Adeyemi has said the new Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Olayemi Akinwumi emerged based on his merit.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, Adeyemi commended Governor Yahaya Bello for not interfering in the selection process.
He stated that Bello’s non interference reinforced his admiration of the governor’s unprecedented commitment towards a system of fairness, justice and equity in governance of Kogi state.
He emphasized that “justice, fairness and equity are the major interwoven qualities of a great leader who is absolutely committed to good governance. This explains the unity and peaceful coexistence of the highly diverse state today.”
The Senator particularly stated that the appointment of Justice Henry Olusuyi as the Chief Judge of Kogi State is quite significant, so also was that of Justice Bayo Olowosegun, who was recently appointed as the President of Kogi State Customary Court of Appeal.
In addition, he said that the appointment and inauguration of the four new judges into the Kogi State Judiciary is a clear reflection of the Governor’s resolve to give all Kogi indigenes a sense of belonging. He recalled that recently, Justice Bamidele Rotimi was one of the four Judges newly appointed into the High Court.
“The appointment of Yusufu Abubakar as Acting Chairman of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) could not have come at a better time. It is quite reassuring that the Governor considered Kogi West for such a critical position,” he said.
