The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Steel Development, Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims has called for resumption of construction work on the abandoned Bagana-Guto bridge.
Halims, who represents Ankpa federal constituency in the green chamber, in a motion moved during plenary on Wednesday.
In a passionate appeal, Halims stated that the Bagana-Guto bridge that links Kogi and Nasarawa states to Abuja has immense economic advantage for his constituents and the nation.
The Bagana-Guto bridge project which was flag-off thirteen years ago at the cost of 25billion Naira in 2007. The project was planned to be completed within two years but was abandoned by the contractor, Messrs Swede Nigeria Limited and the subcontractor, Nairda.
The House, after debating on the motion, resolved to set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate and ensure contractors return back to site and complete the project.
It will be recalled that Rep Halims, among other strides of constituency importance, recently commenced the construction of a road network linking Angwa Ogebe to Ojede through the Young Muslim Community (YMC), Islamia road in Ankpa.
