A chairmanship aspirant under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Isah Abdulaziz has kicked against subterranean moves to handpick the party’s flagbearer for Dekina local government.

Speaking with our reporter, Abdulaziz said the era of imposition of candidates is over in PDP.

He insisted that he is ready to follow all laid down rules of the party and participate in a free, fair and credible primary election to decide the PDP chairmanship candidate for Dekina local government council.

“There is an ongoing uproar on who will fly the PDP ticket for Dekina local government and run for the December 12th, 2020 local government polls.

“It has been rumoured that the stakeholders has adopted a candidate from Iyale ward. I want to state categorically that as a stakeholder in the Peoples Democratic Party in Dekina local government and also an aspirant who is ready to participate at all levels of electoral processes in the forthcoming local government polls, that I am not aware of any meeting where a sole candidate has been adopted for the council election.

“I urge my teaming supporters to discountenance that information for the era of politics of ‘who is who’ is over. What is applicable as it is, is the politics of ‘who should be’ as the decision lies with the teaming members of the party.

“As it is, the party is yet to invite us for any meeting regarding who should fly the Peoples Democratic Party flag for the local government polls. I believe in the strength of our party and I assure you that we will not fold our arms to allow tax collectors within the party to destroy the hard earned strength of the party.

“PDP has released time table in respect of the forthcoming local government council election, we shall follow the right procedure to produce who will man the largest local government in Nigeria, Dekina,” he said.

The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has fixed Saturday, December 12, 2020 for local government elections in the state.
