Even when an already terrified and traumatic people of Isanlu in Yagba East local government area of Kogi state are trying to ease out of the wanton effect of massacre that took place forthnight ago, another pathetic and heartbreaking assassination of a dedicated and shining figure in the youth circus took place just yesterday. Mallam Abdulmumini Musa was strangulated along Oke-Oyi road yesterday night.
Yagba East, a local government area with ageless attributes of unity, peaceful coexistence and tranquil nature, in a twinkle of an eye, have now become a land loaded with fear and trepidation. It’s now a local government known for crime and criminality in the last four months down the line.
As expected, the people are just cheering up and gradually coming out of their grievous garp, owing to the heinous killing of about 12 security men and civilian on June 4, today, just 17 days after, another needless killing has happened.
Something is seriously wrong. There is a missing link somewhere. There is a bridge not well connected. There is something someone is not doing right. If not, what has changed the hitherto peaceful and secured status of Yagba East? The LGA is fast turning to a harbour of crimes and social vices. There is an urgent need to ask our security apparatus germane questions. Are they deprived of their fund or what has led to the loose of guard and porosity in the security of Yagba East??
Also, our political and traditional leaders at the local government must be engaged and asked questions about the rising spate of heartless killings, burglary, robbery and diverse of social vices that has shaped the story of the LGA. It’s distasteful and harrowing to loose close family and friends, again, to always be in the news serially for wrong reason.
We call on our leader and Governor of the confluence state H.E. Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello to please look into the deplorable security situation in Yagba East that has appeared to be contradiction with your giant strides in security sector of the state and stand as a leader committed to the security of lives and property of Kogites.
Yagba East must not be seen to be the spoiler of your fast rising profile and identity as an award winning Governor on security matters.
Let me end with the saying, A progressive trajectory or downward spiral of governance or administration in any sphere is determined by the kind of leadership in place.
We must check the lacuna!
