Former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris has enjoined Moslems to imbibe the culture of love and self restraint as demonstrated during the holy month of Ramadan fast, in line with the religious injunction.
The former governor, during his Sallah message to mark this year’s Ei-dil fitr, congratulated Moslems for witnessing this year’s occasion.
He urged them to use the opportunity to demonstrate love, affection and peaceful co-existence in line with the preaching of the holy book.
In the same vein, member representing Dekina/Bassa in the House of Representatives, Alhaji Hassan Abdullahi Baiwa said the celebration of this year’s festival desire a lot of restraint in view of global health challenges hovering around the world.
In his message, the federal lawmaker stated that it is time to take full charge of one’s personal hygiene.
He commended Moslem brothers and sisters for navigating through the Ramadan fast period at this critical times when Nigeria and the world at large is going through the health emergency of COVID-19 disease.
Baiwa advised that the this year’s celebrations be characterised with self isolation, social distancing, frequent washing of hands with clean water frequently and avoiding gesticulation of hands towards the nose and the mouth.
He advised his constituents not to be carried away by the period of Sallah celebrations, saying the COVID-19 ailment is real and deadly.
He prayed that Kogi state will continue to be insulated from the scourge.
In another development, former PDP aspirant in the last Kogi governorship election, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim has sent a message of felicitation to Moslems on the completion of Ramadan fast despite the biting economic and health challenges.
Abubakar, in a statement signed by the media consultant, Mallam Abubakar Yusuf, asked Moslems to use the sacred month of Ramadan fast to embrace one another in the spirit of the month and in line with the injunctions of the holy book.
“The blessings of the holy month of Ramadan doubles many years of other Islamic calendar, hence the need to be guided by the lessons learnt within the one holy sacred month.
“The one month spiritual exercise as a period of sober reflection, religious tolerance, human kindness and above all, love for the less privilege in the society is the most important for all Muslims,” he stated.
Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim said the well to do in the society should use their fortunes to support the needy in the society so as to attract God’s blessings, protection and shield.
He prayed for many more years of this auspicious occasion.
