Senator representing Kogi East, Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho has called on Muslim faithfuls to use this year’s Ramadan period for self purification.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Senator harped on the need for self sacrifice and forgiveness.
Echocho said Ramadan is a holy month which provide unusual window to Muslims for self-purification of mind, body and soul.
The statement added that Muslims should rededicate themselves in self-sacrifice, self-discipline, uphold tightly in forgiveness and depart from any unholy acts that are unscriptural.
He noted that for faithful’s supplications to come through with Allah’s blessings and for their families to enjoy proper benefits of this fasting and prayers, they must open their hearts to let go of any harms or injuries done to them.
The message further noted that giving of alms is very important especially now that the novel coronavirus is ravaging the economic activities of the world.
Echocho, while congratulating Muslim Ummah for sighting the crescent-shaped moon to commence the auspicious Ramadan fast, reminded his people to strictly adhere to preventive measures capable of flattening the scourge of covid-19 pandemic.
