Bassa is one of the twenty one local government areas of Kogi State, with its headquarters located in Oguma. Bassa local government area is predominantly inhabited by three major ethnic groups, namely: the Bassa Gwomu, Bassa Nge and the Egbiras, and with other minor tribes who migrated to the area due to the fertile land suitable for agriculture, economic viability and abundant natural resources.
Since the advent of democracy in Nigeria in 1999, the local government have been lacking necessary grassroots development and proper welfare despite the incessant support of the people towards every succeeding governments. This happened because our past leaders failed to initiate people oriented projects that would stand the test of time.
In order to overcome these problems, the choice of a good leader is expected. Prince Adamu Ibrahim Alih, as a young man of great virtues; humility, sincerity, articulate, resourceful, hardworking and one with vast experience both in private and public sectors, is also a true progressive advocate and a peace ambassador with positive influence, who possesses good leadership qualities too numerous to mention. He is unrelenting in the area of providing and promoting positive change for the advancement of Bassa local government area and Kogi State in general. Prince Alih deserves our mandate and collective support to become the executive chairman of our great local government.

Security: Without security there will be lawlessness in the society, as such, he shall ensure adequate security to safeguard lives and properties at all times through effective collaborations with relevant security agencies, stakeholders and also ensure regular security briefing.
Education: Prince Alih is set to foster sustained support and equip educational institutions to create a conducive learning environment to make acquisitions of knowledge comfortable for all.
Provision of Adequate Infrastructure: Infrastructures such as good roads, portable water, health care facilities, electrification of various wards in the rural communities will form part of his priorities in line with new directions of “Operation Light Up all the Wards in Kogi State”.
Agriculture within the area will be given the needed attention in order to sustain theย LGA as the Food Basket of Kogi state. He will provide farming incentives like soft loans, implements, tools and also grant to farmers and those engaged in agricultural allied activities in order to ensure food security. Moreover, he shall provide adequate fertilizer in due course and timely to support the farmers in the area.
Youth and Women Empowerment: The involvement of youths and women in Bassa LGA development, in line with new direction policy of youths inclusiveness, will be sustained, This will in turn deepen the political, social and economic justice in grassroots governance and development.
Ethnics and Cultural Integrations: This is one of his focal points of call due to the lingering ethnic crisis experienced in the past. To achieve this, Prince Adamu Ibrahim Alih will ensure permanent resettlement of the displaced persons and promote integration and harmonious coexistence among the people of diverse backgrounds.
Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs) Promotion will also beย a major priority through creation of enabling environment for small and medium businesses to thrive, by fast tracking financial support through relevance agencies because small businesses are the heart of Bassa LGA economy and society.
Accelerate Women Participation in Politics: He will ensure equitable representation in line with New Direction Policy. This will avail women opportunities without limitations to harness their potentials in leadership and give them space to freely express themselves.
