Deputy Gov’s Disclosures; Okai Calls for Independent Audit of Kogi Govt Account

Social crusader, Comrade Austin Usman Okai has challenged Kogi state government to come up with reasonable defense to counter allegations of sleaze leveled it by the Deputy Governor, Elder Simon Achuba.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, Okai called the Yahaya Bello-led government to submit itself to public scrutiny.

The media blogger insisted on a private inquiry by an independent and notable auditing firm to look into the accounts of the state government in the last three years.

According to him, the bogus mismanagement of public funds cannot be swept under the carpet. He bemoaned the deliberate denial of workers and pensioner of their hard earned wages.

Okai said from the revelation of the state deputy governor, Kogi is self-sustaining with federal allocations as well as improved internally generated revenue of over 1 Billion naira monthly.

The social crusader said aside from the federal allocations and grants, the state revenue-generating agency KGIRS should also be probed for probity and accountability.

Kogi deputy governor, on a television programme, alleged that the state government had enough to pay all salaries, pensions, overhead and still have a balance of N127billion to embark on massive infrastructural development. with its statutorily monthly allocations. to the federal government.
