Police vs Elukpo: Court Adjourns Forgery Case Till August 8

A Chief Magistrate Court 2 sitting in Lokoja has adjourned further hearing in a case of forgery preferred against the Chairman of Kogi Elders Forum, Chief Julius Elukpo till August 8.

The presiding Chief Magistrate Saidu Hussein said that the adjournment was to enable the prosecuting counsel,  Otowu Gabriel to present two additional witnesses.

Hussein on July 25 adjourned further hearing in the case to Monday,  July 29 but the matter could not come as scheduled.

The one – count forgery charge was instituted against Elukpo by the Kogi State Commissioner of police.

Elukpo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Before the adjournment, the lead investigator into the case, CSP Adebayo Kehinde in his evidence  told the court that the accused allegedly forged the signatures of three members of Kogi Elders Forum to write a petition against the management of Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja to the Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja.

He told the court that in the course of his investigation into the case , he discovered that the accused forged the signatures of Mrs Sabina Attah, Mr Steven Yakubu and Mr Mesole Otitoju to write the petition dated March 22, 2017 without their knowledge and  approval.

Counsel to the accused Mr Muazu Abbas had on July 25 cross examined Kehinde and Mr Nasir Ahmed from the Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja.
