It is obvious, very obvious now that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a political party that hates women and will do everything possible to exclude them from governance judging by the result of the recent election and the scandalous ministerial list that was just submitted to the National Assembly. President Buhari has fallen our hands on this big time!

Even the 35% affirmative inclusion has not been adhered to in the sharing of the executive positions during the last general election, how many women made it to the State Assemblies and the National Assembly? Few, very few across the country. The odds against a woman winning the political parties tickets is just too high.

These politicians knows that women are only just good to hold positions like women leaders in their various communities. Women it is high time we stopped being used for campaigns only and demand more positions in our country.

Right after the election, we women especially those of us who contested the last election, formed pressure groups.More than a thousand of us across the nation, cutting across parties.  We registered our groups. I belong to two . we lobbied , oh we lobbied , contributing money , connecting ourselves and connecting the presidency for positions. We didn’t just sit down , we made great efforts.

What did we get? 7 ministerial positions ! Out of 43. This is not fair at all to us women, not fair at all.  We know these things happen because men dominate the table, we know it is the men solely making these decisions, we understand very well. Hopefully in the nearest future, we will be bringing our best to the table, the men should not worry, we will come with our own chairs.

For now though, one thing is certain, getting us women to support men will never come cheap again. It galls that we are involved in all the processes of the election but when it is time to share positions, the men start acting like it is their birth right.

Nigeria is still backward, we are one of the few countries in Africa and even in the world that is without a significant number of women in the Parliament. Conservative nations are even now opening the door for women to be included and also encouraging them to achieve and be what ever they desire to be.

To think that the most populous black Nation in the world does not support women to win elections. Appointing women into Executive position in Nigeria is still being considered a favor ! … despite our women being highly educated, very smart and intelligent.
Note, Iran has a female Vice President.
