In an early hour raid on Thursday, suspected Igburra Mozum militia have killed twenty Bassa Kwomus and razed fifty houses in Sheria near Oguma in Bassa local government area of Kogi state.
The bridge linking Oguma and Sheria was completely razed down by Igburra militias.
As at the time of this report, Sheria village was deserted.
A Sheria community leader, Zhiya Gberegu decried the continued militancy of Igburra Mozum against the Bassa Kwomus.
Mr Gberegu said Igburras called for peace on January 8, 2019 at Aguma’s palace at Oguma, the following day they attacked Bassa kwomu communities burning houses and killing the Bassa Kwomus.
He further said only few weeks ago, the Igburra traditional ruler went on Radio Kogi claiming to be calling for peace not knowing Igburra militia have concluded plans to attack Bassa communities.
As at press time two mobile armoured personnel carrier and two hilux of army personnel have arrived Oguma to contain the situation.
