By Yusuf Abubakar.
Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Ibaji local government area of Kogi state have advised politicians to embrace communal services by providing relief to the rural areas.
Some youth corp members posted to Ejule Ojebe led by Nathaniel Eze made this statement during the tour of Senator Atai Aidoko Ali’s projects in the area.
The corp members thanked Aidoko for making life better by providing a motorised borehole, access road and donation of a classroom building to Odugbo, Unale and Ejule Ojebe communities.
Eze said if the political class realised the impact of developing the rural
communities, the rural-urban migration and pressure on the political class will be reduced to the barest minimum.
He appealed to the senator to intervene in the security of lives and properties in the area, particularly the corp members whose lives are under constant threat from criminals with little or no actions on the part of the local and state governments.
The corp’s liaison officer appealed to the senator to within his confines and wisdom provide local vigilante to address the threat to their lives and properties. He expressed confidence that the senator will oblige.
He used the opportunity to thank the senator for standing by youth corp members, for his sponsorship of a motion of urgent national importance against the killing of a female youth corps who died after a gun shot a day to her passing out in Abuja and the senate decision that compelled the police to halt the idea of its report before treating gun shot victims in the country.
Eze assured the senator of their support in his quest to develop rural communities of Kogi East and Kogi state.
