The Kogi Progressive Youth Association (KPYA) has charged electorate in the state to shun the idea of vote selling in the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking on Monday at the executive meeting held in Lokoja the state capital, the president of the association, Mr Joseph Adeiza Shaibu lauded the efforts of the new direction administration under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello.
Shaibu commended Gov. Bello for his laudable stewardship in the last three years.
“I am most delighted to be in the midst of hardworking youths who have taken the development of the state as a collective efforts of every individual. The most important aspect in our journey is the issue of vote selling and buying.
“In the last few years, vote selling and buying has been on the rise.

The spokesperson of the group cautioned electorate in the state on the dire consequences of selling their votes during elections. He stated that selling votes can aid emergence of wrong leaders into positions of trust.
He announced the readiness of KPYA to embark on rigorous sensitization of electorates on the evils associated with vote selling during elections.
“This ideology will not be left behind the four walls of this association, it will be made public in all the nooks and crannies of the state.”
The president commended the efforts of Gov. Bello on the giants strides made by the government to eradicate the menace of ghost workers syndrome and the payment of backlog of salaries in the state.
He harped on the need to support the present government to attract more benefits of democracy.
“The development so far witnessed in the state is nothing but a tip of an iceberg. The nonpayment of salaries and pension which was a tool for the opposition to employ the service of media critics to rubbish the achievement of Governor Yahaya Bello has become a thing of the past.”
