GYB Cup: Dekina, Okehi Advance to Final

Dekina Local Government Area will contest the maiden GYB Cup finals with Okehi Local Government Area after victories in their semi final encounter.
Okehi Local Government football team had penultimate Sunday, secured a place for the final in the ongoing GYB soccer competition across the state.
The Okehi contingent defeated its Idah counterpart on penalties 4-3 after it ended 3-3 at 90 minutes.
The thrilling encounter which took place at the Confluence Stadium attracted a crowd of football enthusiast from within and outside the metropolis.
In another encounter, Dekina defeated Ankpa in a match tagged the clash of the titans.
While commenting on the conduct of the tournament since inception, the chairman of Kogi State Sports Council, Hon. Abdulmaliki Isa (Dolly) expressed excitement for the ingenuity of Governor Yahaya Bello to discover and develop the talent of the youths in the state through sporting activities.
Hon. Isa who noted  that tournament of this nature has not been organised since the creation of the state, commended the players and other officials for the show of high professionalism. He opine that the final between Okehi and Dekina Local Government would be enthralling as the two sides pride of having talented players.
The final between Dekina and Okehi will hold at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja at a yet to be announced date.
