“Gender equality is more than a goal in itself. It is a precondition for meeting the challenge of reducing poverty, promoting sustainable development and building good governance, peace and unity among the people in a democratic society…”
Distinguish ladies and gentlemen, the electorates, and aspirants contesting for political position, I salute you all. For a couple of months now I deliberately embrace a sit on the fence and put on my silence garment not because of what my opinion will cause or the heat that will emanate from certain quarters but to strategically position myself for such a time as this.
“I have never been thought or brought up to call evil good because those who trained me are not politically, socially, and traditionally blind, their moral compass was active, their values was never trade for gold and silver and their garment remain unstained and on this path I have choose to walk.” So Come with me as I speak on a subject title “The Senate 2019”.
Ladies and gentlemen, you will agree with me that since the creation of Kogi state we have not been able, with the exception of few, to vote the best and the fittest among us to power. Our selection process have always been marred by irregularities which often end up in the hand of selfish leaders whose interest and principle are parallel to good governance and democracy.
Election days come and go. But the struggle of the people to create a government which represents all of us and not just the one percent – a government based on the principles of economic, social, religion and environmental justice – that struggle continues and we can only succeed by chosen someone whose credentials and previous activities are are untainted.
If you are going to vote base on money think of your children. If you are going to sell your vote think of your roads. If you are going to sell your voice think of your education and how much struggle you put to achieving it.
If you are going to sell your right think of your parent who was denied access to portable water and proper medical or health care.
The word senate means “elder” and elder means “wisdom” and wisdom means: The quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise morally and legally.
Synonyms: sagacity, sagginess, intelligence, understanding, insight, perception, perceptiveness, percipience, penetration, perspicuity acuity, discernment, sense, common sense, shrewdness, astuteness, acumen, smartness, judiciousness, judgment, foresight, clear sightedness, prudence, circumspection.
Society is as wise as their leaders and also as poor as their leaders. Let no one blame anybody for our present predicament in the state but the electorate who have confuse foolishness to be wisdom, bad governance to be good governance, ignorant as wisdom just because of sentiments and their selfish ambitions.
A society which the elders are morally and legally bankrupt will have nothing to show than corruption, misappropriation of fund, arrogance, thuggery and threaten of every citizen who have contrary opinions to their misgovernance
The new political language is the anointing of a political aspirant by no one else other than the one whose task it is to ensure a peaceful, fair and credible internal elections. They say to me, ‘he is the anointed one’, then I ask them who anointed him? Forgetting that, Anointing can only function well in a vessel that is yielded to righteousness not in a corrupt vessel whose antecedent is dent with questionable character.
I truly appreciate those who have really pleaded with me to tone down the emotions I pump into my writeups with genuine reasons which I concur with, but conscience demand me to speak today…abeg of you all to pardon me and give me your listen ears too because it appear you are part of the problem.
Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve seen over time that countries/states that have the best economic growth, peace and unity are those that have good governance, and good governance comes from freedom of communication. It comes from ending corruption. It comes from a populace that can go online and say, this politician is corrupt, this administrator, or this public official is corrupt without fear of intimidation and arrest.
My friend, anointing a wrong vessel can only produce death, bad governance and curse to the society if nothing is done by the citizen (electorate).
Oh am sorry for not telling you who is the elder, the fittest morally, socially and legally to occupy the senatorial position of Kogi central come 2019 by the definition of Senate. The most qualified who knows the job if not doing the job already, ladies and gentlemen, I come to announce to you, especially those whose moral value is still at work, and want to see a central that work in their life time. None other but Barr Natasha H Apoti…a woman who for the first time single handed stood against the injustice done in ebiraland, risk and still risking her life not just for central or Kogi but Nigeria at large. BARR NATASHA OGO’OGU HEARTS YOU
He who is not faithful in little should not be committed with much, in our society the reverse is the case. My people of central if only we know the power vested on us constitutionally none of the men parading themselves as ‘anointed’ will be able to take us for a ride. Just few months of being appointed to oversee a section of governance, you have owned the whole world, building houses everywhere in a state where people are dying and hungry. How much is your salary? His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello couldn’t have done this but posterity will answer for us.
No wonder George Bernard Shawm said “Democracy substitutes election by the incompetent many for appointment by the corrupt few.
2019 is here again, a season for decision making, the moment of conscience screening and a period to choose our leaders who will not only feed his/her bank account but re-right the wrong But remember, our decision today determine our progress tomorrow and our progress determined our future.
Jairam Ramesh wrote and I read “There never a good time for tough decisions. There will always be an election or something else. You have to pick courage and do it. Governance is about taking tough, even unpopular decisions either by leaders in power or by electorate at the polling unit.
My fellow Citizen of kogi central, Leaders in the public office are your servant even and if they appear to be god, your position or action in this coming election will determine if truly You are tired of the backwardness, not only in the senatorial election but down to the local government level, Assembly and House of representatives. Ensure you vote the best and the fittest whose track record and efforts for the society is evidential for all.
Refuse their tokens, refuse their intimidation, and exercise your franchise with dignity in orderly manner, trusting God to do justice in the land.
God Bless Kogi Central
God Bless Kogi
God Bless Nigeria
Our Land Will Never Be the Same Again…But Ensure You Vote Barr Natasha for Good Governance To Be Evident For All In Kogi Central.
