Do students pay for years caused by strike? No. And this is because it is not of their doing, the same thing applies with the current situation faced by medical students in Kogi State University. I suffered firsthand the evil of that school and college till I had to take the UTME examination again after wasting 3years of my life there. This is my account.
The stagnation has been as a result of the ineptitude of school management to obtain necessary accreditation for the para clinical and Clinical programs of Medical education in accordance with MDCN’s requirement.
The school management has employed delay tactics to keep the students from reaching the climax class of 300L in the College, so as hold on to the Useless right to point out that a Pseudo fact they are not yet stagnated (like the line in the Memo which says …claim that they are stagnating”) until they get to finish the 300L class and only await the 1st Professional Medical Board exams which should usher them into the Para clinical class of 400L and which they cannot write without the accreditation.
A classical example of this delay tactic I mentioned earlier was employed when we were studying the Upperlimb region in Human Anatomy, this region takes at most a 5 weeks to study in a functioning medical school even less in fast schools but took my class about 9months + to complete. This is to be the first of five regions to be studied in anatomy for the 200class which should take just 12 months.
Please judge, how do they complete the other four more bulky regions with practicals, CA and promotional examination, which could take almost a month, in the remaining 3 months left for the poor students? This is for just Gross anatomy alone, the college has other courses for this class which are equally slow, staying in that same class for more than 2years now is in no way their fault.
The students are already stagnating before the stagnation (300-400L Limbo) so when their mates in other faculties are in their Final year, these ones are still in the Second of a Six years Course. The students are already traumatized by the state of the college. To add this trauma by this wicked, and foolish move is nothing but unadulterated evil.
I think the Management is aware of their situation and still made this move just to print on paper that at this moment they are not bonafide students of the school to scare them from protesting and seeking, they have even been threatened before this with expulsion. This is but a game to the school management.
Please the medical students of Kogi State University Ayingba need help. They need a voice, they need a change. HELP!!!!
