The Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Kogi State Government of “reckless, humongous stealing”.

In a statement signed by Achadu Dickson, Director Research and Documentation, PDP said the recent discovery of the diversion of N3 Billion in the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service shows that the practice of plundering the resources has become a norm for Gov. Yahaya Bello and his wanton boys.

The PDP observed that while it has continued to maintain that Gov. Bello’s administration penchant for looting the peoples commonwealth at the expense of development and payment of salaries is atrocious, it seems the government is emboldened to further pauperized the people of Kogi State.

“Kogi state under Gov. Bello owes a whooping N60 billion from loans borrowed by the administration in just two years, this is outside several interventions like the Paris club, bail out and several others and yet has a zero infrastructural development on the ground.

“Rather than use the opportunity the appointed governor bestowed on Gov. Bello would have offered him to provide sincere leadership, the style by the administration in using personal resources to build petrol filling stations, Hotels, build University and to buy choice properties in Lokoja, Okene, Abuja, Kaduna by the governor and his men.

“For now while poverty, hunger and non payment of salaries has become the Kogi signature, corruption, stealing and pilfering of government resources oozing from government offices by Gov. Bello’s men walk the streets freely.

“While the PDP has continued to draw the attention of President Mohammadu Buhari to this sleaze by Gov. Bello and his men in Kogi State, our fears that the stealing is in the know of the presidency, as till date no one, neither Mr President nor the EFCC has found it expedient to in investigate these hefty allegations of stealing.

“It is shocking that rather than pay workers salaries, Gov Bello has deployed Kogi’s scarce resources to fund elections in Edo, Anambra, Ekiti, the National APC convention and now Osun State.

“The PDP however make bold to state that this stealing would only last for now as Gov. Bello would certainly account for all the money accrued to the state and stolen under his watch when the PDP takes over Lord Lugard House in few months time.

“We urge Kogi state citizens to remain vigilant and track the movement of all the brazen stealing as Gov. Bello will account for every kobo misappropriated or stolen by his administration,” the statement read.
