Kogi State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has recently conferred Mallam Yusuf Haruna with the exemplary ambassador award in recognition of his quality service to humanity.
Mall. Haruna, a foremost aspirant for Kogi Central Senatorial district was given the award in Lokoja alongside the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr Femi Adesina in a grand finale of event marking the council’s 2018 Press Week.
In his citation during the award ceremony at the NUJ Press Centre in Lokoja, Mall. Haruna who had his both primary and secondary education in Ikire, in the present day Osun State was also said to have had his National and Higher Diploma in Statistics from the Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin.
In search for more knowledge, he proceeded for his postgraduate diploma in Public Administration at Ambrose Alli University and graduated in 2008. He has been specially trained in counter terrorism, Combat Operations, Citizenship and Leadership training and has equally undergone the United Nations Police Officers trainings.
Currently, Mall. Haruna who holds membership in several professional bodies is on the verge of getting a Master’s Degree in Policy and Developmental Studies.
While fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the award programme, the senatorial aspirant said he never knew his little contribution to better humanity in far away Edo State was being noticed by the NUJ who he described as a noble body of intellectuals.
He dedicated the award to Almighty Allah who he said has given the grace to positively affect humanity security sector, noting that the singular act of Kogi NUJ has negated the popular saying that prophets are not always respected in their household.
He eventually used the opportunity to call on well meaning Kogians to shun parochial sentiments and support the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello to deliver the lofty programme in his New Direction blueprint, adding that he would do everything humanly possible to complement his (Bello’s) effort to develop the state when finally elected as the Senator.
