The penchant for violence in the contemporary generation of youths in our society, especially in kogi east today is in a crescendo and the impending consequences (God forbid) that may emanate hereafter, if not timely and solidly curb at this nascent stage, may be damning unimaginable that it may not partially spare the descendant of either the dissident (poor) and the influential(rich) settlers of our settlement.
I am neither a prophet of doom, conspirator nor a soothsayer but a freelance practicing communicator cum activist who write based on reality, and whose modus operandi both in societal and political advocacy, does not defile agreeable communicative standard and legal operative norms or guidance, even though it might be needed in some instances.
The trend of recent upsurge in political cum occultic violence that has occasioned astronomical loss of the supposedly beneficial lives and properties worth millions of naira, with it’s dent in Anyigba, and other communities of Dekina Local Government Area, Ofu, Idah and others areas unknown to you and I, posed a greater danger to the future and polity of Ane-Igala, Abo-Igala, the geopolitically carved Kogi East, kogi state and the nation at large.
And the earlier we rise up on our feets/voices in unison against this grave and monstrous challenges that portrayed a doom future for us as family-tied, civil society organizations, community leaders, the community itself and individual, the better for the society in its entirety.
The community heads(Gagos), civil society organizations/groups as well as parents, uncles, aunts and elderly children, who are perceived as the “watchdogs” of the society owe the society a lot in this regard and they must as a matter of fact engage children, siblings in both social and political re-orientation, especially in the sensitization of the Ignoramus among them the grave danger posed by their involvement in acts culpable to their future and the law of the land.
And I plead with the “unknown to humanity but known to God” unscrupulous politicians and various influential confraternity’s members who continue to encourage and conspire with this boys to wreck havocs against the Igala Kingdom and the society at large, to equally remind their stooges that the application of “lethal force” (violent approach) by even authorized security agents is neither at will nor at a slighted provocation but much after failure of soft approaches. They should while nurturing and fanning this deadly monster, have it in mind that posterity and the wrath of “Ibegwu” of Ane-Igala will do to you what you are doing unto others. .
However; the government as institution with supreme authority over crime must live up to their primary responsibilities and oat of allegiance, as found in the preamble of the constitution, as goes thus; “establishment of Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provision for the common defense, promotion of the general Welfare, and securing of the blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity.”
And the youths who are the actors of this evil perpetration should deeply reflect about their lives now, what they stand to gain now and the future benefits of their intending gains on themselves, family, the society and the peace of mind they are enjoying after causing the havoc.
The earlier we realized that that those who continue to ginger us with their affluence and shenanigans to play their script especially in hurting their perceived opponents to satisfy their parochial quest for their selfish desires do not mean well for us, the better our future.
