It is worrisome that Government Secondary School, Okpo can not administer WAEC examinations this year due to infrastructural decay, poor learning environment and no well equipped science laboratory.
It ought to be a thing of shame on the part of the Administrator of Olamaboro local government area and the state government for this type of ugly scenario to happen under their regime. This clearly shows that the Administrator has no passion for education. It  also shows that they fail to know that education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belong to those who prepare for it today.
It pains me a lot to see GSS Okpo on the verge of varnishing due to negligence on the part of government, or do they forget that education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another.
I see it as a big shame on the local government Administrator and some political appointees from Olamaboro local government, Okpo to be preside, if that school is down today. Posterity will judge them.
Yes, I remember I raised an appeal on the poor infrastructural state of GSS Okpo early this year, begging the local government Administrator to come to the aid of the school or use his office to drag the state government to intervene in the ugly situation the school find it self at that particular time. As if I knew what’s forthcoming, but up to this moment nothing was done.
I even begged and appealed to some of our sons and daughters aspiring for various political positions, I approached them and no one came to the rescue of the school. I also appealed to one or two members of the alumni, they said they were meeting at their own level to see how they can come to the aid of the decaying school but we yet to see anything happen or actions taken by them so far.
The only key to unlock the golden door of freedom is education! The gift that no one can take away.
The position they occupy today and the sycophants praising them should not forget it is a tenure not a title, even the post of a permanent secretary is not permanent. You can’t fake education because it is most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.
Please, what can we do to bring back GSS Okpo back to his glory? Education is our best friend, an educated person is respected anywhere.
The secret of education lies in respecting the students, we have to respect the younger ones by fixing that school urgently.
The actions and act of negligence on the part of  the Local Government Administrator make me to believe that he will never take the issue of that school serious because is of no use to him. He prefer sharing motor bikes for youths instead of showing them way back to school. He is not aware that education is the movement from darkness to light.
We have representatives both in the state House of Assembly, federal House of Representatives and the Senate but none of them have taken any move whatsoever in regards to the situation of GSS Okpo. I take it that Olamaboro have not been lucky in the type of people we have produced over time as elected and appointed representatives.
Victor Huge has this to say; “He who opens a school door closes a prison”. Aristotle said the root of education is bitter but the fruit is sweet and note that education is the only vaccine for violence.
Please for God sake, we need to keep shouting until it gets to a man after God’s heart that will help us out of the mess as I charge great like minds, the alumni of that great school to stand up in unity and also try find a solution to this mess.
One thing we should all have in mind is that it is good to have money and things money can buy, it is good too to check once in a while and make sure you haven’t lost the things that money can’t buy!
GSS Okpo most be rescued and it glory restored.
