Ovia Osese: Haruna Yusuf Calls for Cultural Rejuvenation

Mallam Haruna Yusuf, a foremost aspirant for Kogi Central Senatorial seat has stressed the need for rejuvenation and reformation of cultural festivals across the state.
Mallam Yusuf made the call recently at Ogori Civic Center where he presided over the 2018 Ovia Osese as the chairman.
The chairman of the occasion while commending Ogorians especially the parents for keeping their daughters chaste till the ripe age, noted that cultural festivals such as Ovia Osese could be reformed and refined to be money-spinning venture for tourist attractions.
“It is a public knowledge that many communities in the country with similar cultural festivals over the years yielded to pervasive penetration of Western ideologies losing their original texture and tempo in the process. Ogori community and of course the elders, have continued to hold tenaciously to this all important virginity festival which has placed the town on the canvas of global cultural repute.
“It is on this note that I call on other people whose cultures and traditions have been defiled, diluted and ridiculed, to reform, observe, respect and practice the norms and the lores of their places as we see it happen today in Ogori”, he admonished
The Senatorial aspirant who has gracious taken the sponsorship of a maiden’s school from basic education to secondary level urged the people not to be cowed politically on the account of their geographical location or numeric strength.
He commended the state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello whose investment in security maintenance in the state, he maintained, has made all the citizens to go about their legitimate businesses unmolested.
