Firstly, I want to thank Okun students both at home and in diaspora for their rousing support and the privilege accorded me to lead NAOS for the next 365 days.
Despite the accompanied controversies, myself and other executives are determined to chart a way forward to protect the integrity and image of our union.
However, it has become expedient for me to address some matters of ambiguity that is currently generating tension in the public fore.
The first election that took place at Aiyegunle Gbede on the 31st of December amidst controversies produced me Ajagun Opeyemi Samuel popularly known as OKUN BOY and Margaret Olupehin as president and senate president respectively.
A meeting was then summoned by some political stalwarts to resolve my group with one other faction which i consented to A 6 man committee was saddled with the responsibility of conducting the second election which was subsequently fixed for 20th January.
Preparation was in top gear and all committee members conducted themselves in all fairness to the rules of electioneering.
Despite the confusion that trailed the Iyara convention, the committee chairman led three other members that were resolute in proceeding with the election to another venue in Kabba where delegates casted their franchise and results were announced. Myself Comr. Ajagun Opeyemi Samuel and Margaret Olupehin again emerged as president and senate president respectively.
I’ve received calls from the other two members of the committee that my name was announced as president in their own list but with another person as Senate president.
I want to unequivocally state it here and now that the pronouncement of the Kunle Ola and friend group is strange to me as I was never in the know of how their list was cooked.
For record purposes, it should be known that the pictures of myself and one Moses Juwon Oloruntoba being tossed around on social media is intended to blackmail me.
I emerged based on popular demand alongside with Sen. Margaret Olupehin and we are prepared to start attending to our office duties as soon as we are inaugurated.
I therefore appeal to the public to disregard comments from those that are bent on smearing the image of our union. We anticipate your moral supports and prayers to steer a successful administration.
Thank you all.
God Bless OKUN STUDENTS
God Bless OKUNLAND
God Bless KOGI STATE.
Aluta continua, Victoria Acerta.
