Residents of Kogi State have hailed the Yahaya Bello-led government for making the production of Kogi Rice a reality. They said the feat is one of the biggest achievements of his administration.

According to Senator Smart Adeyemi, Governor Bello is achieving the goals of his agricultural revolution. He said Bello is turning Kogi into an agricultural hub to strengthen the state’s economy.

His words: “I am a critic of bad governance, but I also give credits when someone is doing well. Governor Yahaya Bello has done very well in the agricultural sector; the production of Kogi Rice is further proof that Kogi is in the right track as far as agriculture is concerned.

“As a lover of my people, I cannot turn my back on a governor who is doing well for my people. I love what the governor is doing and will continue to support him.”

Adeyemi urged the people to key into the agricultural policies of the New Direction Government to empower the youth, ensure food security and create wealth.

Governor Bello’s Director-General on Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, said the government has not achieved its goals in agriculture yet, as the target is to make Kogi the food destination of Nigeria.

According to Fanwo, Omi Dam is just one of several marked out dams, which the government intends to use to promote agriculture.

His words: “Agriculture is our strength in Kogi State. It is our own crude oil and we hope to make the best of it.

“The government recently took delivery of agricultural machines to ease food production, and make agriculture convenient and enticing to our youths. The Ministry of Agriculture is working hard to consolidate our gains in the sector and to open new vistas of opportunities as we hope to ensure food security, create employment and become a big food exporter.”
