Director General, Consumer Protection Council (CPC), Babatunde Irukera, has been called upon to join the long list of aspirants vying for Kogi West senate seat in 2019.
Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja, the coordinator of Kogi West APC Stakeholders Forum, Hon. Musa Abubakar Ibrahim, said Irukera is an outstanding personality whose pedigree will match the zone’s quest for better representation at the national level.
Musa noted that the Kogi West APC Stakeholders Forum has membership cutting across different women and youth groups across the seven local governments in the zone.
“We are calling on Barrister Babatunde Irukera to heed the popular demand in Kogi West and contest 2019 Senate election. We are solely behind him because he is an inspiration to the upcoming generations. He has relevant experience, poise, finesse, intellectual capabilities required for robust representation of Kogi West in the Senate.
“Barrister Irukera is a very courageous man. He has all it takes to strengthen democracy in the state and Nigeria if given the opportunity to serve.
“Barrister Babatunde Irukera cognate experience spans over 10 years in the United States engaging in complex commercial litigation and settlements including several jury trials and significant appellate work. At this time, he also successfully managed the transition of a small-sized firm in Chicago to fuse with a large broad-based practice in Simmons Cooperation.
“He has requisite skills to reset Kogi West and boost her economy,” he said.
On his part, the Secretary of the group, Hon. Bayo Akah, pointed out that the press briefing is aimed at creating awareness on the need for Barrister Babatunde Irukera to vie for Kogi West senatorial seat in 2019.
The press briefing was attended by All Progressive Congress (APC) leaders, stakeholders, women groups and a host of others.
