The narratives going on presently in Kogi state, where people now donate rice for Kogi workers was avoidable.
Instead of seeing this as embarrassment, government should show responsibility by offsetting all unpaid salaries of workers. We were part of the train that won votes for APC and it candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu. I understand very well that the masses are so disappointed of this government because Audu had a social contract with the people.  Read through all his campaign speeches in that election, he had campaign of issues,  he promised change, a real change.  The people believed him because of his track records.
Personally I would not say I am disappointed. I have not for once put hopes in this government. I believe Yahaya Bello gate-crashed in to governance and so it might be difficult to navigate through it, but my worries are that, for government not pay salaries of workers is not acceptable. There is no reason to it.
Let me remind politicians, especially those who believed that critics of this government are haters.  Let them remember that should their salaries be withheld one month, they would understand the agony of working without being paid.
There are no excuses for not paying people.  If government can not pay salaries what else should people expect from such leadership? We would continue to call on our people not to rest, not to loss hope, that they are Nigerians, that they have equal rights as those in Gombe, Kano, Cross river etc who are being paid, that what has created these differences is a government that is so insensitive to the sensitivities if her people.
When this government came to power, they demolished all the wonderful roundabouts created in the state capital by Prince Audu over ten years ago, those things have not been replaced.  It clearly shows how confused they are.  I sympathise with the government for lack of direction, obviously that’ is a result of lack of plan and unpreparedness for leadership.
My fear, however, is the chance of generation of other people that is being ruined. Tell me a youth that will come up in Kogi today and the people will believe him, let alone a minority.  So it’s killing the future of many because this government is suppose to represent the societal narratives of today. Where youths are clamouring to take over leadership.  But where you have a youth and he is tearing the state apart what again can we hold. It’s a great tragedy in our land. Audu’s death has caused a lot of pains for a lot of people who loved him,  but when you think of the developmental gap it has created, it’s indeed a double tragedy.
Recently, I have been reading whole lots of articles from those hired to cover up,  but I think we can save our energy as it will be very difficult to sell a rotten ideas.  To call black white?  No.  It’s a shame. That when others are debating how to improve IGR of their states,  to create massive infrastructure that will generate employments for their people, we are lingering with issue of salaries. Then, where is the direction?
What this government must do immediately is to go back to track.  Pay workers salaries,  build back our roundabouts at least to bring Lokoja back to how they met it, then the conversation can start from there.  As it is today they have failed woefully. Kogi people can not take further this national embarrassment. As for those contributing money or rice to do politics,  Kogi people are not refugees, they are hard working citizens who are only asking for what belongs to them. Please stop playing politics with our people.
The load of leadership in Kogi state is not only on Governor Bello but senators,  Reps, state assembly members, chairmen etc are part of our woes. In our state as if today,  the people are now one party and politician another.
