Nigeria’s former Consul General to China, Ambassador Ali Ocheni, has said that he decided to establish a modern block factory in Kogi to bridge the gap of inadequate quality building materials, especially blocks in the state.

The ex-envoy said this in Lokoja at the weekend during the launch of his factory, Nugwa Global Resources Ltd.

He noted that the difficulty he encountered in getting quality blocks while carrying out some projects in the state sometimes ago motivated him to open the factory.

He said that the factory apart from providing quality building materials for members of the public at affordable cost, would also assist in engaging unemployed youths as no fewer than 18 workers would be engaged by the time the factory begins full operations.

Ambassador Ocheni appealed to the state government to grant the company tax holiday and also improve on security in the state to enable the business thrive.

He also called on the government to collaborate with the company through public-private-partnership arrangements.

Speaking at the launch, state Commissioner for Education, Dr Tolorunleke Sunday commended the ex-envoy for investing in the state and assured him of the needed partnership and supports from the government.

On her part, the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Mrs Deborah Osatimehim called on others to emulate the ex-envoy.
