The Senior Special Assistant to Kogi state governor on Inter-Party Affairs, Hon. Hayatu Abdullahi has described the statement credited to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi state on the public holiday declared by the state government as rude, reckless and disrespectful.

He argued that to describe the action of a sitting governor, which was meant to pray and celebrate the return of the President as an “Aberration”, is an affront to the government and highly uncouth.

In a statement released by his office, he said “there’s absolutely nothing wrong declaring a holiday to pray for a President that has fought corruption to a hurt and had sent treasure looter and economic saboteurs mostly of PDP origin to the dustbin of history and some on their way to jail.

“For the records, PDP ruled the state for thirteen uninterrupted years with no single achievement, no infrastructure, no policy direction and weak institutions despite the huge resources at their disposal, yet the party left power with huge debt burden and months of unpaid salaries.

“With less than two years in power, the APC government in the state had reawaken infrastructural development and strengthen the various institutions of government for maximum productivity. Policies of government were being implemented in line with party manifestoes and the New Direction Agenda which has signaled rapid social economic development in the state.

The Governor’s aide appealed to opposition parties in Kogi state to join hands with the government instead of picking holes and playing politics with every action of the governor. He said the governor is delighted to welcome views, suggestions and opinions from all opposition parties, but certainly not in the form presented by Kogi PDP.

Kogi is an APC state but the government is ready to welcome political parties, groups and individuals that will help the government to move the state forward.
