Pro-democracy activist, Comrade Austin Usman Okai has described the recall process allegedly initiated by the Governor Yahaya Bello‎ led administration in Kogi State against Senator Dino Melaye as immoral.

In a press statement, Okaisaid Governor Bello and his appointees lack moral justification to initiate the recall of an elected Senator because he is enjoying an office he never worked for.

Okai wondered why a Governor that was imposed on the good people of Kogi state through questionable circumstances will turn around and bank-roll the recall of a duly elected representative of the good people of Kogi West.

“A government that lacks credibility and acceptance among the people is now wasting our common patrimony on a senseless political vendetta. This is a government that cannot account for billions of naira it has received so far. Salaries and pensions are not paid, no infrastructural development to justify the huge income the state has witnessed in the last  fifteen months. Aside the electricity transformers commissioned recently, Gov. Bello cannot of any other accomplishment in the state. The much hyped Revenue House and SDG house are World Bank projects.

“We are not unaware of underground moves by Kogi government to seduce top management staff at INEC with large amount of Kogi funds with a view to realising the unrealistic moves to recall Senator Melaye through inducements.

“I am not saying Senator Dino Melaye is a saint but so far he has distinguished himself in the red chamber and the audacity to challenge the impunity and fraud in Kogi state has endeared him to many Kogi indigenes. I am also calling on other leaders in the state to speak out as Bello has revived billions of naira, some of which are loans that the state will have to pay back whether it is used judiciously or not. The Bello administration has created advanced poverty and crimes in Kogi state”, he said.
