It is indeed a great memory and sign of fulfilment for the Kogi State commissioner for rural development, Hon. Enema Paul as he played recipient to the highest honour of the West African Students Union Parliament (WASUP), President Kwame Nkrumah exemplary Leadership Award as “Icon of Societal Development In Nigeria”.
In his opening remark, the speaker of the parliament, Saint Solomon explained that WASUP is a pan African student organization which is established to promote the development of Africa by Africans and for Africa via sensitization, workshops, seminar and accolades to outstanding individuals who have distinguished themselves in services to humanity stressing that the recipient is been honoured inline with the aforementioned premise.
In his response, Hon Enema Paul thanked the Union for finding him worthy of the award and promised that he will improve in his services to both God and humanity. Speaking further, he dedicated the award to the governor of Kogi State who he said is the reason for the day noting that if the governor had not appointed him, he wouldn’t have been addressed as the commissioner of rural development in the present dispensation.
His words “I want to specially thank you for this honor done to me. In fact, I have tuned down several letters of award because of the modern impression of “cash and take” attached to award but for you to have come from outside the boarders of Nigeria tabling my scorecards before me, I am not only delighted but spur to do more.”
The epoch event which took place at Stamford hotel Abuja featured a very high and powerful delegation of the parliament led by the speaker saint Solomon all the way from university of Ghana, Legon. Also present were Comrade Ozim Tempo (Nigeria), Hon. Yakubu Yahaya (Nigeria) Hon. Pablo Agyemanjan (Ivory Coast) among others.
