It is no longer news that the social media critic and public commentator, Comrade Austin Usman Okai, who was arrested and rearrested by the Special Anti Robbery Squard of the Kogi Division, has been finally granted Bail by a Federal High Court in Lokoja.
One would have expected that immediately he met the Bail conditions, he would be freed to attend to his personal issues while the case continues in Court. To our amazement, almost a week after meeting the Bail condition, he is yet to be freed.
This is not unconnected with the fact that the OC SARS has vehemently refused to show up to sign his own part of the Bail. Is this not a clear evidence of the delay tactics to frustrate Okai’s freedom which he is legally entitled to, as enshrined in our Constitution?
I, on behalf of several concern Citizens of Kogi State hereby, use this medium to call on the Inspector General of Police to immediately order the OC SARS to do the needful, because we are losing patience on seeing injustice being meted on innocent Nigerians for no just cause or fault of theirs.
We look forward to an urgent and kind response in this regard, so Austin Okai Usman can finally regain his Freedom.
