Sir,
AN ALTERNATIVE FOR LASTING SOLUTION TO SECURITY THREATS IN KOGI STATE.
With high sense of confidence in the present Administration of Kogi State under your watch, I wish to heartily commend your efforts so far, particularly, in ensuring the enthronement of good governance towards evolving a better Kogi state where everyone can be proud to call a home. Your excellency Sir, considering your high sense of humility, your doggedness in fighting corruption in the state and exceptional leadership quality, and most importantly your resolution to give audience to Kogites via the media so as to push across those pressing challenges and burning issues facing the wellbeing of the state. This has shown us high level of sincerity of the government and has also helped the good people of Kogi State to develop confidence in your administration, it is on this note that although this is my 1st letter to the People’s Governor of Kogi State, I have decided not to make this letter public but rather privy discuss.
I personally, appreciate your numerous achievements in different areas that are praiseworthy.
Sir as we all know the issue of security threat can be so disastrous to both human, physical and socio-economic development of the state as such I will like to appreciate the fact that upon your assumption of office you have taken giant moves to provide vehicles and improvement in the equipment and welfare of the security agencies in the state and honestly this has gone a long way in averting crime and decreasing the high rate of kidnapping and robbery which was trending in our dear State, and in short, your most recent proactive step of recruiting and empowering new vigilante groups in the state is noteworthy.
But Sir, with the recent spate of killings and prevailing security red alerts from unknown evil plotters in the state, I wish to present to you Two(2) workable suggestions which is capable of wiping out this unbargained dilemma.
First, I suggest the banning the use of Motorcycles or Motor-Bikes for Commercial purposes in the state, this was practiced in Lagos, Edo and Kano State during the Babatunde Fashola , Adams Oshiomole and Rabiu Kwankwaso-Led administration and it recorded a huge success, I think we can replicate same idea in Kogi state too considering the current dilemma bedevilling the society in its rapid form.
Government should put an end to the carriage of people with bikes, all motorbikes should not be allowed to carry a passenger, only the rider should be allowed.
As an alternative to this means of transportation the government should purchase Tricycles (Keke-Napep) to some of the youths with a certain payment duration for each rider.
This will also create room for more employments in the state. I gave this suggestions because research has shown that Motorbikes are easily used for executing evil plots like assassinations and related heinous acts due to its flexibility and ability to manoeuvre even in Traffic hold-ups, but it has been reported that Tricycles(Keke-Napeps) finds it difficult to be a successful tool for those perpetrators. Sir, This has really helped in curbing security challenges in Edo, Lagos, Kano and other Vulnerable states in the North who were once victims of what we are facing in our dear state right now. This is why I thought it wise that we should reflect on it and learn from history so that history will not repeat itself negatively in our state.
Secondly Your excellency, I want us to employ the use of “SPY” or “INFORMANTS” in this war against insecurity. Government will find it easy to detect those who are involved in this killing business including Kidnapping if they employs some of the Area boys in our environs who were once political thugs or societal terrorists at one point or another, those guys know every nooks and crannies of the state and they know who is who and who is planning evil in the state, they know themselves and they have enough details to fish out the black sheep’s more than any security personnel can do, therefore they could be paid some ‘token’ to serve as spies and informants to the government and security agents and believe me they will do well, especially when you promise to reward them after every proven successful findings.
They shouldn’t be made known to the public, their identities should be hidden and totally undisclosed to the society, once they are assured of this protection, they will go extra miles in excavating every necessary information to the appropriate bodies.
Your Excellency sir, it will interest you to know that Many universities in Nigeria has been able to successfully crack down major campus crises and surmount insecurity threats by simply recruiting suspicious students who are rewarded for passing cogent and verifiable information to them when some cult members or various ring leaders are plotting to stir some internal subversions in the campus.
Those suspicious students naturally got the information early enough before the school management just like the way those area boys will do.
I am sure convinced that this will really workout in partnership with the local government Administrators, the state’s instruments of Force, the newly recruited Kogi state vigilante members and the concerned informants in the society.
Finally your excellency, haven recognise your sincerity in the recent verification and screening exercise which has fetched out the ghost workers in the state. I humbly, wish to urge you to see into the complaints of some genuine workers who are yet to receive their respective salaries.
Sir, as we anticipate your cooperation, we equally, congratulate you on the recorded victories over the kidnappers, and wiping out of ghost workers in the state and most importantly your recent award of recognition as the Best Governor on Security issue Nationwide,
