I decried the poor state of worker’s welfare in the state. I described it as suffocation of workers and people of the state, nothing that the people of the state, particularly workers, had been subjected to abject poverty and penury as a result of Bello’s continuous payment of selected few workers salaries in percentages. Adding salt to the injury, fuel and kerosene are beyond the reach of the common man.
I appealed to Bello to pay workers their full entitlement in order to ameliorate the current hardship in the state.
How can a government that is crying of lack of funds to pay workers’ salaries, buy official cars for the whole administrators and take some government officials to Germany under the guise that they are trying to woo investors. Investors for who? Who will patronize their manufactured products? Is it workers than can hardly feed as a result of non payment of salaries. And we all know that Kogi State is a civil service state.
I buttressed this point, there is a man in Igalamela Local Government Area of the state and unfortunately a native of Okene, the governor’s tribe. His wife gave birth to triplet and named them according ‘Percentage’, ‘Hardship’, and ‘Selected Few’. When people asked why, he said in the olden days people named their children with prevailing circumstances and therefore, he decided to named his children according to the prevailing situations in the state now, which are payment of salaries in percentages, hardships and selected few.
