Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has reiterated his commitment to ensuring the citizens of the State have access to quality and affordable healthcare, saying the place of healthcare in the general well-being of the people cannot be overemphasized.

The Governor who disclosed this in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Petra Akinti Onyegbule urged the people of the State to key into the Fair Health Scheme which is aimed at ensuring mothers and children pay paltry sums to access quality healthcare.

The Governor said healthcare delivery is one of the cardinal ideals of his administration, insisting that a healthy people is a wealthy people.

“At the moment, our administration is working on improving the structure and facilities in our secondary and tertiary healthcare institutions across the State. We have also moved to ensure our health training institutes such as Nursing Schools and Colleges of Health Technology are upgraded to meet global standards.

“It is obvious that poverty affects access to quality healthcare services. But under my watch as Governor of Kogi State, Kogites will henceforth have access to quality healthcare delivery regardless of their social or economic status. Our subsidized health schemes are aimed at not only giving quality healthcare delivery to our people, but to also make them pay paltry sums for that”.

The Governor hailed the proposed School Feeding Program of the Federal Government, saying the program will ensure good health among school children.

Governor Bello said his administration will collaborate effectively with NAFDAC to fight against the circulation of sub-standard drugs and food in the State, assuring Kogites of better days ahead in the health sector of the State.
